Gilbert the goat part 2

Okay so where was I? That’s right, so we got into the canoe and pushed off nicely then started to float away. So we were dry mostly but Jack on the other hand was in the back and got a little bit wet. So after paddling for a long time I felt something, so I put my paddle into the water about thirty centimeters from the surface and it was sand so I continued to paddle and eventually we hit land.

So we all got out and dragged the canoe onto the shore behind a bush, Lachlan got the lime solo drink that he brought and cracked it open and took a swig. Not knowing what to do next so we just started to walk in a random direction, after walking for a while we spotted some strange red bushes so we went to investigate. After getting closer and closer to the bushes, we discovered it was a small marsh, then suddenly our feet sank into the water and it was very cold. In the middle of the marsh there was a large main lake full of little mosquito babies and it looked like they were hatching. So we ran rather quickly and we didn’t stop until we were out of there.

After walking a little more we spotted a tree, it was pretty big and really dead, Jack thought it was a great idea to climb it. While Lachlan and I were just sitting around we saw an old t-shirt on the ground and decided to make some shoes to stop the prickles. So after a good minute or two attempting to rip the shirt we finally ripped two decent pieces off of the shirt we started to tie them to our feet and realized that we only had enough for one shoe each. after tying the makeshift shoes onto our feet Lachlan and I high-fived but then heard Jack yell.

To be continued

“for only one game”

So on the previous long weekend I ended up Volunteering.”For only one game,” which was soon destined to be a lie. The first game was meant to be starting at 10;30 and I only had about 15mins until I had to go out on the oval with the umpires. With a quick run down on the many rules. ELi, Bodee and I marched out with very low confidence and still a very puzzling understanding on the boundary umpiring rules and stuff.

The first game went by which wasn’t very interesting because i didn’t have to Blow the whistle or do anything really except fetch the ball after one of the teams got a goal. So I volunteered for the next game since I didn’t do anything in the last. Since I was already tied Jordan decided to come out and give it a go. We WERE getting paid so it wasn’t too bad and the games only went for an hour.

Half way through my second game some guy ran up to me with a uniform. This is when I realised something was up.
“Hey mate you‘re doing such a good job, want to come and do the league game?” which would have been my third game, I was about to say no then he mentioned “there’s big cash.” So that’s it I went on for my third game which was just like the other three. I didn’t have to do much.

After the entire day i made about $135 and a few cramps and strains in my muscles, my shins WERE aching, and my work ethic the next day seemed to be lacking, but sometimes you just have to commit to get a bit of cash.

A refugee story

It has been a year since I had to flee Australia because of world war III. I am asking the refugee camp boss when I am going home every week but he is saying it is still too early to come home. I don’t know where I am. The refugee camp that I am in is a mess there is rubbish everywhere and it is noisier than some of my friends.

I miss home, all I want to do is sleep in my own bed and go to the beach and live in peace and quiet. I can’t believe that I am missing school. I miss my mums cooking and my friends. I tried to making some friends but they say I don’t have the right culture.

Today the media came to talk to some of us and I got picked to talk to them. They asked me if I was grateful where I was.

I stayed “no, I just want to go back home.”

“Do you think they should send some people back home?”

“Do you?” I said

“Yes!”

Then they walked away.

One week later, they grabbed 400 refuges including me and took us somewhere else. They took us to the refugee camp in Malaysia. I was worrying if I was going to be ok then I thought that my family might be there.

I am in Malaysia now. I still have nightmares about when I left and last night there was an attack on a refugee so I think I will have to leave Malaysia now.
