TWTWB GOOD COPY FOR MRS FLANNERY

Tommorrow when the war began, is a series of a group go young Australian teenaged who go camping and miss out on a military invasion. They all decide to stay hidden and stand up for themselves. They try many risk-full attempts to try and try to stall and mess around with the invaders before they controlled the country.

The book has a very engaging writing style, this helps set scene, stronger sense of emotion or feeling for characters. I also found this book to have a strong kind of similarity to my setting of where I live to what the book had. When I was reading the book I was automatically thinking of Kalbarri and its similarities to Wirraiwe. Cobblers bay made me think of the river mouth, Kalbarri’s national park reminded me of hell and just as well was the town wirraiwe the small country town so much similar to Kalbarri. The movie though destroys all of those similarities to what you have thought of in your head and could relate to with real life situations or people, places etc. Once you’ve watched the movie or the story being played out for you it is very hard to re-create the same kind of setting and everything else.

The movie was actually kind of upsetting again because I noticed how there were a lot of lines and identical scenes written just like the book. There is no obvious tweaking and re-creation from the Hollywood directors. And I always thought movies were always ‘tried’ to make better then the book. I mean that’s half the reason why people would make movies based on books.

When John Marsden was writing the book it wasn’t him writing it it was a character he created to narrate the book. Everything is from here loin tot view (Ellie). The movie I guess changed (her in the book) writing journal entires. Though in the movie it was video entires probably not a huge thing they changed but it was something that changed. Also probably the only other thing that was different from book to movie. Was Homer and Kevin’s snake scene.
This scene was kind of hard to not realise the switch of character. but I only realised this until it was pointed out. But the scene is still the same, basally in the movie Kevin goes over to his sleeping bag and there is a snake in it. Though in the book its Homers bag and Homer has to deal with the snake.

After comparing and contrasting the film and book. I would definitely prefer the book then the movie. Mostly because it had more detail and explanation to certain things that the movie failed to pick up on. The book also gives you your own certain kind of mental film, your own style of characters, settings and how emotion and things effect come characters in the book.

WIlliam Blake

Year 9
English Assignment
Poetry Research Task
Mr William Blake was an English poet, painter as well as a printmaker, (though print making in this day of age, is much more different than what it would have been between the years of 1757-1827.)
William Blake is a 19th century writer and artist who is regarded as a romantic writer. Most of his poems have consisted of romance and other things along the lines of love and romance. Most people believe he wasn’t a very popular or recognised poet in his lifetime but now. He is classified as a seminal figure, this means he is a ‘Strong figure’ in today’s poetry word.
William Blake was born in 1757 on November 28; William Blake grew up in London while George the II was king. This was over 200 years ago and life back then would have been very hard and especially in London things would have been a bit wild. With the European war and the battle of ‘derigan’ led by ‘George the II’ meant that William Blake did grow up in a rough kind of life surrounded by war. William Blake was the second son to men’s clothing merchant. William Blake’s Biography said that William was often beaten and hit by his father. William Blake had written poems from an early age and later in his life time. At the age of 21 he went to the Royal academy of Arts and soon quit the academy due to his thought on the rules and how they didn’t agree with him so he quit.
When he was 24 he fell in love with the girl of his dreams, Catherine Sophia Boucher, Who was unable to read or write so William Blake taught her how to read and write, even draw and colour his designs for his prints. William Blake never got with a lot of women and Catherine Boucher was soon his beloved wife for the next 45 years till his death. Although a lot of things happened between his marriage and death like the sad loss of his brother Robert Blake who died in 1787 due to tuberculosis only at the age of 24. (Tuberculosis is a type of lung disease.)

Once the death of Robert Blake-William Blake’s brother, William thought to of seen visions and spiritual connections with his brother who gave him ideas on new poems and taught him a new way to write them. ‘Illuminated Printing.’ this method allowed Blake to control every aspect of the production of his art. William wrote poetry at young age of about 14, the same as me. He then pursued that creativeness and wrote many poems of love and romance about his brother and wife. His daily life and other things that weren’t always so romantic. Even though he wasn’t really a big poet in his time like shakespear or judith write. He has grown to quite a popular poet In todays poetry era. And many of his poems are loved and chershed by thouands of people.

A Divine Image

Cruelty has a human heart,
And Jealousy a human face;
Terror the human form divine,
And Secrecy the human dress.

The human dress is forged iron,
The human form a fiery forge,
The human face a furnace sealed,
The human heart its hungry gorge.
-William Blake

P o e t r y A n a l y s I s

1. The poems subject matter; is mainly in my opinion focusing on a human and it’s harshness it’s feeling and it been referred to bad or horror images/vocabulary. It’s referring the human life to things like fear, suffering and terror. Maybe he wrote this because of the things going on around him at that time like the European war. Or simply something that has upset him so he wrote about that.

2. The purpose or theme of this poem was mainly on the negative-ness of a human and there consciousness which. But I think it’s just mainly focusing on the things that were going around William Blake at that time.

3. The emotion is kind of a sad poem but it doesn’t really make you sad it kind of makes you worried or stressed maybe a bit angry at the humans for what they must of done to be written about in that way. Really it just depends on how you looked at it and how it affected you at that time.

Flower power

Last weekend we had a visit from our grandparents down from Perth. They are mum’s parents and they Brought up there caravan and had a few days with us. Though on Sunday We decided to go for a drive to take a look at the wildflowers and go out for lunch in Chapman valley. We Left Kalbarri heading in a northerly direction. We headed down to the old Ajana road. Checked out somethings along the way. Like the old Ajana Dam and water tank both used to fill up trains back when trains where a thing. After our little stop we ended up out near Binnu and down past Nabawa. Driving around looking at all the pretty wildflowers. It was kind of interesting seeing the different types of blue, yellow, pinks and purples. We then started heading for our lunch stop which was about 3km out of Chapman valley and is kind of this winery-smokehouse. Which did all these smoked ribs and stuff. Which was all really yum. We later left and headed back to Kalbarri it was near to two un the arvo and we were all pretty sleepy after our big feed. An hour and a bit later we arrived home and got dinner organised which was pretty much jaffles with leftovers in them. After this trip and dinner we set up our fire at home sat around that for a bit. And soon fell a sleep and went to bed. So yeah might not of been our biggest and most exciting day but it was a pretty tiring day eating and looking at flowers.

Zest Fest 2016 by Ben Davidson

The Kalbarri Zest fest is an event that happens once every year. It is a memorable day of when the Zuytdorp crashed upon the ‘Zuytdorp cliffs’ 50 or so kms north of Kalbarri. The Zuytdorp was a big sailing ship that was traveling to Indonesia to collect some spices to take back to the Netherlands back in 1712, (300 years ago). The Zuytdorp was a big sailing ship with masts and sails and was not as advanced as ships today… that’s why it crashed.

Two or so years ago on one of the Zest Fest weekends, I participated in one of the school shows. We, as a class, had these big drums and started banging them and showing off our radical skills which probably weren’t as good as we thought they could have been. The Zest Fest is a big day and usually stretches over a long weekend. It’s a good day for the family and goes from early in the morning to late in the night. With plays, bombfires and lots of cultural food it is a shame that this is the last year for it.

5th f e n c e

The other week I managed to skip a day off of school and went surfing with some locals. We were heading up the coast to some heavy surf break and I was the nominated surf filmer. we left at about 8 O’clock. Soon Ry, Jake, Kane, Jy, and Kit packed our stuff into Jake’s car and got ready for the two hour trip. We paid our $50 fee and drove through the boggy sand and the muddy track. We got bogged a couple times but that didn’t stop us, just delayed. We got there at about 12 and we all headed straight out it was pumping. The left hander was probably one of the best I’ve seen.

After our long surf we came in and ate our very late lunch watched the sunset and headed home.

Surf trip-101

The other week I wagged a day off of school and went on a surf mission with some pro’s and ex-pro surfers, and lot of normal guys from around town who still shred.
It was a good day right from the get go. We went for a surf check down at the local break (known as Jakes) and realized it was going to be pumping up there. So at around 7:30 we headed back home organizing food and surf boards.

After we were organized, Ry craike gave me a lift down around the corner to young Jake Perkins’s house and we started loading his car up with the surfboards, My camera equipment, food and a lot of alcohol.
(we only took up one car because there is a $50 fee for surfers to get through, tourist are only $17, I know unbelievable?????) But luckily since I wasn’t drinking I didn’t need to pay, that was the deal.

After a 2hr travel we made it to this incredible left hander and the boys went straight out. It was pumping 6-8ft and glassy as all hell. It would have to be one of my most favourites of times in life going up there with a bunch of friendly humans and sharing and shouting each other into the gnarliest waves. IMG_3855

last weekend

Last weekend we had a visit from our grandparents down from Perth. They are mum’s parents. They brought up their caravan and spent a few days with us. Though on Sunday we decided to gor a drive and take a look at all the wildflowers. We left Kalbarri early Sunday morning and all squezzed into the one car. We cut through Ajana and headed down the old road, which led you past the dam and old train water tank. Both of which was used to fill up the trains in the olden days. After driving through Binnu we came across many wild flowers. These were all different coloured from yellow to purple and they were every where.

A few hours later we had to stop for lunch because we were all hungry. We stopped at someplace a few K’s from Chapman valley which was this winery-smokehouse place. It had all these ribs and cool chairs. We ate our big lunch and then we drove back to Kalbarri.

Yesterday Afternoon

f

Yesterday afternoon I rode down to the beach at around 4. I was pretty desperate to get down there because I saw what it was like in the morning ! Destined to be a good afternoon I got on my bike and trudged down there, battling the strong kind of SE Wind as i got onto the footpath, surrounded by bush and large shrubs bright and colourful from the wild flowers. I noticed that I was unable to see or hear the ocean for about 10 minutes. I was starting to make myself pedal harder. Finally waiting for a gap in the bush, I saw the water. It was flat, not rough and bumpy like it usually is in the afternoons and even with the strong Easterly I was beginning to think it was flat all together. But no, I finally saw the point as this 4 footer went through and someone standing tall beneath its lip. My feet were spinning fast now, the numbing and pain was starting but in no time i was flying down the bumpy gravel road. Down into the car park of Jakes, I whipped on my wetti and bolted into the water. With no second guessing at the jump of,. I dived in and began to swim.  I was pretty exhausted from the run up the beach and my feet were feeling the pain from the intense bike ride.

But it was all worth it, I got a couple of good shots and there was some Mad colour when the sun started to lower. Got rolled on a couple but that was actually kind of fun. Being spun around and around doing rolli-pollies and bouncing of the bottom like a tennis ball.
Yesterday was a good arvo.

Something I have written

Seeing I don’t have a-lot to write about I am just going to write about me. Me being a few weeks behind in the Blog entry assignment/homework assignment thing. So this Blog entry will put me one step closer to finishing… Yeahhh Well to be honest with who ever is reading this, I am a little bit more behind then a week or two, closer to five and maybe six. So yeah as you could imagine I am trying to smash it out now so I wouldn’t need to write it out on the weekend. Which I will probably spending writing one or two more entry’s.

But happy days 🙂 Work needs to be done so that’s why I am doing it. So yeah Pretty much writing about my homework, while I am doing my homework, confused?

Well There’s only four more blog things to write after I publish this. So Prepare for more Blog entry’s like this maybe, maybe not?
I am not sure yet I will need to wait unless something happens for me to write about.

Bushies

Last Thursday the bushrangers and I went down to Margaret river for a camp. We Headed down early Friday morning and ended up not getting there till about 6:30 so we where on a tiny cramped bus for twelve hours! Which was pretty insane, Once when we finally arrived to Margs and got our way through the streets and drove into the right campsite. We unpacked the bus trailer and chose our beds and stuff. We heated up some dinner and went to bed.
We woke up with a bit of a chill from the damp cold night got organised and went out for our first adventure. we where headed to Giants cave where we would climb through and climb back out of an exit someplace else a few “k” away. The Cave was huge and there was a big cavern with sand down the bottom. There where ladders and tight holes to squeeze through it was quite intense and kind of scary being meters beneath the Earth’s surface.
After getting through the cave we came out someplace in the forest and needed to follow a trail through the forest and across a road to get back where we started and left out bus. After all of this there was still a bit of daylight and we where still pretty pumped. So Hellen took us to the Margaret river maze. Which was this huge hedge maze with so many dead ends, there was a lot of frustrated Bushrangers. As the night started to fall we all somehow manageably got out and went for our quick 10 min trip back to our temp camp for the next few days.
